WHAT IS SEEKNET?
SeekNet is a NEW Echo mail Network That was Created to fill the need
for a QUALITY, Professionally run, User/Sysop Friendly Mail System,
without all the Cumbersome Rules and Application procedures. There are
many Quality Echo Mail Systems out there, but few which make Users feel at
home, and even less that are easily obtainable by the average sysop. Others
lack the professionalism and quality that Sysops rightfully expect. We
don't think that this to much to ask for, and that is why SeekNet was formed.
Our goal is simple. Give the Sysop a QUALITY Echomail Network that will not
possess his BBS, but compliment it. We think that we have succeeded in doing
this. Our conferences are Interesting and Informational, but they are friendly
as well. That is a hard combination to find, which is probably why we are one
of the fastest growing, and most popular Nets around. We also echo the ever
popular "Shareware Review" Hosted by David Johnson, and have plans for other
informational additions.
This Network can handle either .Qwk or Fido type mail transfers.
If you are using the .Qwk format, any mail Tosser like Tnet, Rnet,
or Qnet will be able to Import mail into your message area. We already
have wide participation. We have close to 50 active conferences and will be
adding more as the need arises.
The File NETCONF.LST Contains descriptions of all our Conferences.
If you run a Wildcat! BBS, The SEEKERS.CFG, (included) is The configuration
to use for The Seeker's Place. It is complete with Our conference numbers.
You can use any text editor to add your conference numbers and tagline,
and use this .cfg file for your setup. Make sure that you leave the SeekNet
portion of the tagline intact! Change the Upload/Download path to reflect
your comm. program, and you are all set. If you are running with any other
BBS software, consult the docs for proper setups and files.
We have included some very nice screens and bulletins to introduce
your callers to the Network, should you decide to be a part of SeekNet!
You can customize them with your own Info and NODE/HUB ID: Number.
Making mail runs to The Seeker's place should be Quick and Easy.
All modems are High speed and with the "!" Option Placed before your
Network Name, you can go Directly to the Mail door without ever seeing The
BBS. This is Great for auto mail runs. saves Time, and Time is Money.
There is also Information, as well as script files available on the BBS
for sysops new to Echo mail, to help them get setup with Seeknet.
RULES & GUIDELINES!
Any Network worth It's salt has Rules and we are no exception. We
are trying to keep the rules to Simple Common Sense ones. We want the Net
to be Interesting, Informational and fun, but not Burdensome.
Conferences are Topic Specific, but we will allow for deviation.
For example; If someone is Talking Lan systems, in a Lan conference, and a
user reponds that he has such a system and will sell it for x amount of
Dollars. This is not an infraction of the rules (Since it "is" Topic
specific). He will NOT have to go to The "For sale" conference and post.
This does not however mean that Users can fill the conference with sales
pitches or ads. It is permitted "ONLY" in the course of the conversation.
Our conferences do have moderators. Anyone wishing to Moderate a
unmoderated conference, (Moderators are listed in Netconf.lst) should
contact the network aministrator with their request.
Since This Network is for all, and accessible by all, we do Require
that the language be kept in a "PG" rated mode.
All Net sysops are "REQUIRED" to carry the Net administration
conference. It is for Net sysops Chat, exchange of ideas, and/or questions,
suggestions for the Net. This conference "MUST" be "PRIVATE" and accessible
only by you and your co-Sysop/s. Please read "ALL" Mail in the Net
administrative conference since it is where notices of changes, additions,
Policy or suggestions will be posted. General Sysop chat pertaining to
anything other than the Net should be posted in the Sysops conference.
There will be no Verbal assults on Individuals or Flaming allowed on
the net.
We Don't require, but we do request that nodes carry at least 6
SeekNet conferences.
Aliases or handles are "NOT" Permitted on the Network (Except in a
case where an Alias conference has been added to the Net).
No illegal acts of "ANY" kind will be permitted on The Net.
Sysops should try and keep quoted text im messages from their boards
down to a maximum of 7 lines. There will be exceptions, but as a rule 5 or
6 lines is enough for anyone to quote in replys. Replying to multiple
quotes is acceptable.
Any Dispute that may arise between nodes or hubs will NOT be handled
in public conferences but will be resolved by the two disputing parties
and The SeekNet administrator, whose decisions are Final!
Any Net Sysop knowing of anyone who wants to host/Moderate a
conference and is qualified should contact the SeekNet administrator.
-------------------------------------------------
This Network will be around for a "LONG" time. Join the SeekNet
Family and grow with us. All Network BBSs will be given a Unique Node ID
Number consisting of SNxxx, "x" being Numbers. SeekNet Hubs will have
numbers in the form of SNHxxx. This will assist us in keeping Track of,
and identifying all BBSs in The Net.
Get in on this exciting New Network Now, and do yourself, and your
users a favor. If you are Interested in being a part of the SeekNet Family,
fill out the SEEKNET.APP and Upload it to......
